idk maybe the liberal party sucked ass and was more concerned with careerism and useless grandstanding and the wants of rich donors than stopping the guy who wanted to gas all the undesirables, a threat they did not take seriously. sure glad nothing like that is happening in my country

Nn vc n ta entendendo, ele era nazista *porque* ele era um degenerado, doente e drogado
Eu, como pessoa pura, de boa ancestralidade, saudável e cidadão de bem, nunca poderia ser nazista
(Contem ironia)

I strongly feel this is a new low for journalism and scientific research, congratulations I guess

[wokely] well as we all know, fascism is a symptom of autism and clearly evil people have stigmatized developmental conditions

making a whole ass article speculating on those things, and advertising it with "he might have been neurodivergent', doesn't suddenly become absolved if you mutter "not that this is real" into your palm while fake coughing.

Please note that determining from DNA analysis if someone is neurodivergent or bipolar is not currently accepted. While neuro divergence and bipolarity have genetic links, they are complex conditions caused by many genes interacting with environmental factors.

Can we not fucking do this shit? It doesn't fucking matter what his DNA indicates. Armchair diagnosing him almost a century after his death does nothing but put neurodiverse people TODAY at risk - the majority of whom would never even consider doing what he did. Come the fuck on.

Yeah man, I'm sure all the people who spread that unfounded conspiracy theory are totally gonna change their tune when they see this study that says he was probably autistic but probably not Jewish.

But WHY did they do this study? What possible value is there in calculating a likelihood of Hitler having some neurodivergent, or for that matter some developmental condition? It does nothing but risk people linking atypical development with unspeakable evil. It’s unethical.

Well the report of the research says a neurodiverse condition is “likely”. And why would you even do this research unless you were interested in “explaining” his behaviour? Or worse, in the public appetite for genetic determinism? The very thing that powered Nazi ideology?

You can’t diagnose neurodiverse conditions from DNA. Even if you could, it would tell you nothing about why he was evil. This is irresponsible and unethical.

It’s not much more than an equivocation. The focus of this entire article is on genetic factors and how they possibly influenced Hitler

Adding in a paragraph as a disclaimer isn’t really sufficient. The whole exercise is troubling, that we can possibly use genetics to identify personality factors

also, btw, we cannot be doing the whole “ah! makes sense! only a closeted [insert category of person here] could be so outwardly bigoted [toward that category of person]” thing.

that means blaming NDs, people with all sort of sex-/intersex-related conditions, etc for our own oppression.

So lets use our newspaper to sensationalize it.

What is wrong with you?

They *had* to get Baron-Cohen to "give context." Once again, they couldn't have chosen any of the many autistic, or other neurodivergent, experts in the field. They had to choose him, again.
