Met up with @brooklynspoke.bsky.social in downtown LA today and had a great convo about “Life After Cars.” Seriously read the book, it’s so good: lifeaftercars.com

Seen at a parking lot in Sacramento. Don’t think it’s a commentary on car culture, but you never know…

In today's Climate-Colored Goggles, I have some reflections on the Eaton fire, the alleged arsonist and wildfire accountability in the climate change era. www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/the-gates-...

Made it to one of my favorite places this weekend, the Whitewater Preserve near Palm Springs. Whitewater River is a gem.

The Dodgers got a lot more attention for failing to stand up for Latino communities than for refusing to cut ties with Big Oil. But the two stories are related.

In March, one of California's top lawmakers wrote to Dodgers owner Mark Walter, urging him to end all oil and gas industry sponsorships.

The team wouldn't comment publicly, but turns out they had an answer: Nope.

I just got a copy of the letter: www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/dodgers-wi...

Wait, Gavin Newsom's new CARB chair says the board will "rethink" the state's 2305 mandate to end sales of gas-only vehicles? As in, Newsom's crowning climate achievement and the biggest thing CA has done on climate in years?

This was reported a week ago and has gotten very little attention?

Interesting @nytimes.com story on tensions over coal within the Navajo Nation, but I have to do some media criticism on this framing of renewables vs. gas.

Gas is "cheaper" than coal, whereas renewables — excuse me, "greener" forms of energy — are a product of Biden? www.nytimes.com/2025/10/31/b...

I know it's been said before, but absolutely wild that this is just a normal part of the conversation now.

Anyone else seeing this kind of messaging from the climate denial crowd today? If you read what Bill Gates actually wrote it's obvious that he still sees climate change as a serious problem that must be solved, but in our post-literate society this feels inevitable.

"Oil and gas drilling is continuing on federal lands, although at a much slower pace than during the Biden administration, even though Trump has handed out drilling permits like candy at a parade." Very much appreciate @landdesk.bsky.social continuing to track this: www.landdesk.org/p/friday-qui...
