I was thinking similar, you sometimes find yourself wondering if it's a younger bird when the tail is quite contrasty like that. Or your bird was younger, but more advanced looking everywhere else (again, due to light/distance) 🤔

2cy for me. It was at East Harling we realised 2cys come in smart or spotty morphs, and this looks like the latter. Grey in the mantle/wing is acceptable, but not in the tertials, surely? The Scandinavian connection is a bit tenuous (lack of ringing data or observations on the east coast) and we know their main movement is down through mainland Europe (there are some huge counts through Alpine passes etc). Ours pass SW and some leave out to sea from Dorset and Devon, to France/Iberia
