Unfortunately, these hungry birds were met by a persistent and hungry dog which dug a hole under their barricade. They met their demise too soon. It was a very sad day in our household.

They continued to grow and thrive. Baby feathers sprouted. I was looking forward to watching them leave their nest.

They were thriving and everything appeared to be in working order.

Mama bird sat on their nest and fed them well.

Over the eight days they were with us.

We picked them up when they fell and put a baby gate around the poorly chosen nesting spot.

My favorite backyard visitors of the year were three baby cardinals. Unfortunately, they didn’t stay as long as I would have liked, but my family enjoyed them during the time they were with us.

Just yesterday this book caught my eye sitting on a shelf. Last October, I listened through midway the chapter on Mark and stopped. I started again today in the chapter on Matthew and found these two quotes. They speak to me in this politicized day and time.

Tony Campolo seems to have a similar approach or perspective as Henrietta Mears, in her book, “What the Bible is All About”. She begins each chapter with a description of Jesus based on the book or books she surveys.

This was a fun discovery this summer to learn there is an elephant named Kamala at the National Zoo.
