Seeing the numbers on Prop 50 is really getting me choked up. This wasn't a foregone conclusion. It's only been a year since we as a state declined to outlaw slavery. But we got this one right, at least. Both the establishment and the grassroots pushed for it and got it done.

I drizzled some butternut squash with olive oil and honey and seasoned it with some kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, curry powder, and a little smoked paprika, and roasted it at 425°F for 45 minutes, turning once. Tonight I’ll eat it with my leftover red beans and rice. 🍳
