I can agree re the tax free sum - I always have found that odd. You are only taxed at £20% on the first bit and given that the state pension scheme for people employed for many years uses most if not all of this then you are going to be paying a higher rate of tax. /2

The dividends earned on investments in a pension scheme are taxed. This was Gordon Browns wheeze that extracted £5bn a year from tax funds and largely led to the demise of final salary schemes. /1

So your solution is to tax money going into pension savings, tax it whilst it is there and then tax it when you withdraw it. All the while probably complaining that people do not save enough for their retirement.

I dont see they have acheived much apart from increasing the financial black hole, scuppering the hospitality business, putting what was left of our economy into reverse, precipitously proscribing Palestinian Action. I know an ex long standing Labour member currently facing terrorism charges on this

Luck is mostly being born to parents who are interested in you. I feel sorry for kids I see in restaurants whose parents basically ignore them. They will always struggle. Other times you see parents who talk to their kids all the time. Money is no real indicator which is which.
