they aren't frivolous cosmetic luxuries - it's medicine. it corrected my brain chemistry in ways years of different anti depressants and anti anxiety medications failed to. it made me able to function as a real person.

it is wild how many non-trans people seem to be taking an issue with this extremely correct thread: transphobia was an extreme minority position that was isolated to fringe reactionary christian conservatives, but through "liberal" publications laundering bigoted talking points it became accepted
There was an elite consensus against transphobia so strong Texas’ Republican Speaker of the House Joe Straus refused to pass a transphobic law, the public broadly agreed, and then a few elite liberals took it upon themselves to make transphobia popular and more or less succeeded.
