regardless of proprietary geforce or the quadro-only pro drivers, they constantly broke with minor kernel, lib or driver updates, even on fully-supported hw w/a verified OS. the gpu issue was cheapness that cost a lot, but dell got it resolved. nvidia rarely helped w/driver bugs if they even replied

ancient computer lab linux sysadmin memory unlocked: i specced out machines for CAD/3D rendering with quadros since they were the only thing that worked. the order-er swapped to cheap ati cards. we had to replace every card, which we paid for. and they sent geforce cards, not quadros. i was furious.
