Full moon and low cloud - not a chance, even without the church security lights sabotaging me.

It's after sunset, and the Daily Prayer app thinks it's Advent, for what that's worth. (Though it definitely wasn't at last night's Carols in the Pub 🤫)

Sermon is now printed, and cake (which was indeed delicious) is no more.

I'm also distracted by the bits of delicious-looking Ukrainian cake from the church fair this morning, which I know are sitting by the kettle.

I'd be readier if I could finish my sermon, but I'm temporarily stuck, so am pootling about on here instead. Oops.

Penguins are great, but I also have a soft spot for moorhens. Many years ago, I used to take my lunchbreak in St James' park and watch them, They look cute but ridiculous on land, with their oversized feet, and seemed to be great parents.

It also turns off the spelling checks, which is annoying. But worth it, overall.

Very mobile family, but main influences South Wales, home counties, Lancashire: half two.

There seems to be some confusion whether it's Wideopen, which is the village where the church is, or North Gosforth, which isn't particularly accurate, but means neither of the two villages in the District is singled out. As the name implies, Wideopen is quite windy - I'll want my cloak on Sunday!

It's the Sunday between leaving curacy and being licensed in my first incumbency. Went back to my sending church; fantastic sermon from their curate, and a good catch-up afterwards with some old friends.

Newcastle's, run by the excellent Oswin Project, does amazing cake.

With porridge, if you leave it to dry out, it slowly peels away from the pan as it shrinks. Takes a while, which is annoying, but it's fairly effortless.

OK, you win!

Well yes, but they have been given extensive warnings. (Especially in our diocese, where a foolish decision about a heating system recently got one church embarrassing headlines in the Church Times)

'Didn't ask the archdeacon'; especially when coupled with 'Didn't get a faculty.'

This. We did a bit about marriage law and faculties, but mostly, 'if in doubt, ask the archdeacon.'
