I get that. The CI of Hybrid cards has been contentious since the RC first defined them. How Maro intended them to work and how the RC interpreted them to work are at odds. As a rules guy it is important to keep the debate rooted in what is already precedent in the rules. Appreciate your opinion. 👍

I'm not saying it should, but that is what the debate is about, whether the AND/OR applies to color identity. The other examples you gave (Phyrexian, DFC, free spells) are not the same, I just want to make sure people are talking about the actual issue at hand.

The difference is that those cards have color indicators that define color identity. Phyrexian mana is not colorless/generic like Hybrid, there is colorless Phyrexian mana that is only on playtest cards. Hybrid mana is designed to be AND/OR, the debate is whether that should apply to color identity.

Sound reasoning for 60 card Pauper but PDH uses a separate ban list that currently only contains Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora.

You'd be surprised. If you consider the intent, some decks are punching up into Bracket 4 with tutors, efficient combos, and the ability to consistently present wins on T3-5. Even some of the non-combo decks can give precons a run for their money. I've won multiple EDH pods with PDH Old Man Willow.

It's a pretty good option in Phalanx Leader, essentially turns into "Prevent 1 damage, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control, draw a card" for two mana.
