1. Publishing is still core to societies' missions.
2. Journal revenues (mostly) in decline.

@dankingdk.bsky.social and I have been wondering for a while if and when some of the major UK research funders would jump from X to BlueSky. Seems like it's starting to happen, with @ukri.org, @wellcometrust.bsky.social, @nuffieldfound.bsky.social, @nihr.bsky.social all creating accounts recently.

📈 Independent society publishers saw median revenue GROWTH of 21% 2014-2022.
😔 Societies who outsourced their journals publishing saw a median DECLINE of 30%.
