Many years ago, in a startup, we were given a reading list by the founder and an Amazon voucher to buy them; good idea, I thought.

These are books like Purple Cow, Will There Be Donuts, Viral Loop - classic startup reading list. The thing with these books is […]

Instead of Dry January, maybe sign up to The Spirits substack, get a cocktail recipe email every Friday at 4pm, make the cocktail, enjoy the cocktail.

"A £45 bottle of Chartreuse, drunk in 5-10ml increments, will actually see you through 50-100 cocktails (yes) […]

Portuguese Christmas crackers: need some work.

"What did the banana say to the cat?

Nothing, because bananas can't talk"

Don't think they've quite nailed the entire package yet..

It's Christmas Day, day time, and there's Die Hard, and Die Hard 2 in English, uncensored, on Portuguese TV! I'm still so used to the "recorded off ITV" version from my childhood that I'm surprised with the swearing and the lack of ad breaks 😅

Merry Christmas!

"Electricity Maps" is fascinating! You can visualise a map showing a selection of realtime and historical eletricity use and approximate associated carbon emmisions.

A real eye-opener. Europe and UK is doing quite well, very suprising that Australia apparently […]

What a perfectly framed photo (assuming it's not gen ai..) and what a nasty ad campaign. Ugh.

Really interesting read (in a nerdy kinda way - which is the best way, obviously):

I was progressing quite well in my revision for AWS Developer exam, but then I discovered #Ludwig on BBC iPlayer and have not been able to focus until I finished the series...

Really hoping there's an error in the BBC weather app, else we're getting 13,000 mph winds in London today.

Though I have no ability to comment on the difficulty of coding games, being a nerd from the early Spectrum and NES days means suggestions like this about the Switch capabilities for running a retro Metroidvania sound strange.

Lovely. BritishGas website full of internal server errors on their *new* "energy account" website, on the day that everyone's trying to check their tariff and save money. Related?.. hmmmmmmm

I passed! Phew! There were a few questions I wasn't sure of, so I was a bit worried coming out of the exam, into the pouring London rain, frantically googling aws documentation...

Had a great time yesterday, recording a podcast with my old friend, Iyabo, about AI and how it impacts human relationships!

There's SO much to cover on that subject, and I'm prone to go on tangents that I think are fascinating, so hopefully it can be fixed in post to make sense 😂

Asked my old high school friends who, without needing to think, told me to use 3x3 "rings" of two sets of 2 x residential, 2 x commercial, park in the middle, railways around the outside, repeat.

Took about 20 minutes to finally complete the practice level […]

I love Sim City, the old one from the SNES. I remember playing it a lot, and enjoying it. However, I've realised that I never even made it past the practice scenario! I'm playing it again now (retroPi) and having to Google guides and tactics, just to get past the introduction!

Fitness Boxing on the Switch must be in my Top 5 most played games (behind a couple Zeldas, Streets of Rage 4, and at least one Mario); this got me through covid lockdowns and constantly sorts out my stiff back. Only problem (for them) is that I have zero incentive to buy the sequels!
