I'm a journalist writing about capitalism for Democracy at Work.
"Repossessed," Leslie Nielsen's spoof of "The Exorcist," always makes me laugh.

"'Lolita' [is] my least-favorite Kubrick movie because the director — despite brilliantly capturing the zeitgeist of late ‘50s/early ‘60s America — does not sufficiently condemn Humbert’s behavior."

PS: Lots of Humberts in MAGA world...

I believe this senior editor used AI to write an article.

If I'm correct, this is disgusting!

Thousands of journalists are losing their jobs.

Pikora may have laid off a few herself. I guarantee she knows victims.

Hire a journalist!

Wikipedia editors don't care what Elon Musk thinks of "X-Men."

They don't care what any alt right chud thinks of "X-Men."

But they quoted my @salon.com retrospective on the all-time greatest superhero franchise.

Jew-haters are on the rise.

Greene and I disagree on if Mamdani is anti-Semitic, but we agree in opposing the vile rise of anti-Jew bigotry.

Hence I discussed this Jew-hating troll in our upcoming interview.

Politics is downstream from culture.

Thus I've analyzed movies from diverse genres — an erotic thriller ("Eyes Wide Shut"), a sci-fi epic ("The Day After Tomorrow"), a romcom ("Hollidaysburg") — to critique capitalism.

May 17, 2004: "The Day After Tomorrow" premieres in Mexico City.

In the scene when Americans illegally cross the border to Mexico to flee the superstorm, a huge cheer erupted from the Mexican crowd.

I wish I'd been there.

I like "Killer's Kiss" more than its own filmmaker, Stanley Kubrick.

Among its many virtues, it explains the rise of democratic socialists like Mamdani.

Trump, Epstein and other billionaires have one goal:

To turn our real world into the fictional one depicted in "Ghosts Can't Do It."

In that film, co-starring Trump, billionaires plot murder to improve their sex life.

I'm not being hyperbolic here.

Climate change is devastating Africa.

Africa is the inhabited region least culpable for climate change.

Yet whenever I cover this issue, Westerners show contempt for Africans.

It's disgusting.

Trump thinks democracy is a joke.

Literally.

While interviewing Cleveland's grandson, I thought of Freud.

Before long, I came to understand how Trump views democracy as a punchline.

Stanley Kubrick predicted Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein in "Eyes Wide Shut."

I reviewed this 1999 cinematic masterpiece for @democracyatwork.bsky.social.

To help me I interviewed documentarian Tony Zierra, whose "SK13" deconstructs "Eyes Wide Shut."

I'm thrilled the director and producer of "SK13" enjoyed my @democracyatwork.bsky.social review of "Eyes Wide Shut."

To appreciate Kubrick's masterpiece, I advise you to (1) watch "Eyes Wide Shut," (2) read my review and (3) watch "SK13," in that order.
