Just noticed the Malta Spitfire in the artwork 😊

Another one added to the 1:24 scale stash 👍😊. It's a shame that a very British brand has to manufacture in India though.

Here's a little job for the cold, dark winter nights: put together a BMW 801 radial engine in CAD for the Airfix 1:24 FW190A then 3D print it. There is a resin one available from Super Hobby but it's £60 once shipping is added and the DIY approach is much more fun.

I’m well stocked up for this one 👍

Airbrushes cleaned ahead of the big Sunderland paint 👍😊. There’s going to be quite a lot of masking on this one 😰

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

That worked well. Thanks to @traindriverdave.bsky.social for the UV resin idea 👍😊. I’ve cut some masks on the vinyl cutter.

Right, I’ve put some Bare Metal foil in the back of the light apertures and put the bulbs in. Now for a few layers of UV resin then sand and polish 👍😊

After much cursing and swearing the canopy now fits.

The light covers are, of course, way too small for the thickness of the wing 🙄. Looks like I’m going to have to hot bend some clear sheet. Getting a bit bored with this now.

I don’t usually do black Friday stuff but at £30 including shipping this was irresistible. One of my very favourite aircraft.

I’ve reinstated the panel lines lost in cleaning up joints. Now there’s a couple of hundred rivets to do 😜

I’ll listen to Stephen Fry reading Sherlock Holmes stories on Audible to relieve the boredom.

You’ll be needing a couple of these as well.

To begin at the beginning:

It is spring, moonless night in the small town, starless
and bible-black, the cobblestreets silent and the hunched,
courters'-and-rabbits' wood limping invisible down to the
sloeblack, slow, black, crowblack, fishingboatbobbing sea.

Still dealing with little annoyances but we’re getting there 👍

Jadlam have got an Airfix black Friday sale on at the moment. I’m very tempted by the 1:48 Supermarine Walrus.

OMG!!!😮

I must follow back immediately!
November 14, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Nearly ready for paint. I somehow have to get the canopy to fit properly 🙄

Making progress. The plan is to drop UV-curing clear resin into the portholes then sand and polish. I’ll use my vinyl cutter to make circular masks. This kit is ok, but it proves that ‘new tooling’ is not necessarily good tooling - a lot of cleaning up parts.
