The simplest most straightforward artwork I have ever made.

The photograph becomes a quiet memorial to a unique species.

The sawfish has been extinct in the Mediterranean since the 1960s and is highly likely to be completely gone in our lifetimes.

I placed them on four sheets of photographic paper, a a special kind that makes a positive rather than negative image when exposed to light.

They were propped up on an old wooden cabinet in a room of rocks and fossils, they were dusty and had flecks of paint, remnants of careless redecoration efforts.
I found out they were sawfish rostrums (noses).
