I love this, makes me think of walks I've been taking at this time of year

Yes! I'm so fascinated by them being the one surviving species... A great history of their leaves as motifs in art too, and now having studied them for myself I'm really appreciating that on a new level

Maybe the most vibrantly yellow trees I've ever seen at this time of year. I don't usually use this colour a lot but these autumnal studies are partly about experimentation! I tried a few different rounds of painting them in different ways before I settled on this style and I'm pretty happy with it.

I also wanted some kind of framework to get myself experimenting, practicing and sharing what I'm doing without the pressure of a hard goal or time frame in mind. It's very important to me to do things at my own pace, but also to keep up a routine.

This time of year is sometimes difficult as I don't look forward to the impending cold and darkness of winter, but I feel this makes it even more important for me to celebrate the things I appreciate.
