I'm calling upon @brighton-hove.gov.uk to stop street parking along bus routes, so that roads can actually be navigable for public transport instead of being choked up by parked cars. @brightonhovebuses.bsky.social

It's brilliant that there are still boar near the Hamps/West Sussex border. Sadly, the woman quoted calling on authorities to 'capture the animals and relocate them' exemplifies how disconnected many people are from wildlife. They're not a fucking art installation.

Unless Israel is banned from Eurovision, the UK should join Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands and Slovenia and withdraw. There is no excuse for participating in the whitewashing of genocide.

Despite the attempted spin of The Metals Company, this experimental mining has proven highly damaging to deep sea biodiversity. This scouring of Earth's last frontier must be stopped.

Why is it unacceptable to dump asylum seekers in military barracks?
– They're often shitholes unfit for long-term habitation.
– They tend to cost more than hotels.
– They lead to the ghettoisation of asylum seekers, isolating them from communities and services.

Great – leave it alone. We now have wild beavers in many parts of the country, in spite of the anally retentive bureaucracy involved in licence applications. We need to stop treating wildlife like escaped exhibits from Jurassic Park.

This is a cataclysmic collapse of a marine food web, caused in large part by commercial fishing. This needs to stop, and sardine populations around South Africa need a chance to recover.

I wrote about the race to stop octopus farming before it starts. This issue has been covered a fair amount, so I wanted to look at one under-covered aspect of it -- why do so many people who study octopuses, and are fascinated by them, support farming them?

There are several examples from around the world of non-native species being introduced to fix anthropogenic problems, even to control other invasive species (small Indian mongoose as rat control in Hawaii). It doesn't usually go well.

Capitalism is truly evil. Trump has probably just thrown this man off of his Medicaid, on top of everything else.
Listen to this American still working 40 hours a week when he's 88 because his wife got sick and he had to sell his house.

This is what they want to do in the UK.

This should arguably be a far more outrageous scandal than the felling of the sycamore gap tree, but probably won't get a thousandth part of the attention.
There are some people who seem to see the recovery of ecosystems in a deforested waste as a personal affront. It's about power, and different landscapes reflect the different ways in which power is distributed - or concentrated.

It appears that EU citizens have an incoherent attitude to large carnivores, supporting recovery but opposing further growth of populations. What is clear though, is that these species aren't as polarising as the media and farmers' organisations would have us think.

I suggest that if John Redwood wants to argue against a figment of his own hysterical imagination, he doesn't do so on national TV – it's just embarrassing.
@zackpolanski.bsky.social wants to introduce a wealth tax of 1% on assets of over £10m & 2% on assets over £1bn & if the super rich want to leave the UK because they are being taxed a tiny amount more then we should wave them goodbye

Thatcherite John Redwood says 1% isn't a tiny amount.
