Psychiatrist Penelope Campling implores us to acknowledge how our mental health is so utterly bound up with our social and material circumstances.

Wes Streeting and all in government need to acknowledge this.

No longer able to continue her work as a consultant clinical psychologist in the NHS, Penny Priest retired in June 2024. Since then she has been struck by just how many other clinical psychologists…

So Labour can moan about Greens being unrealistic as much as they want, but who is the bigger fantasist: the people who know the house is on fire and something radical is needed? Or the people saying "this is fine" as the roof falls in?

If he was genuinely interested in an unbiased exploration of the evidence, perhaps he could have found someone other than the guy who led the debunked ME/CFS study to lead it. This appears to be more of the same - policy based evidence.

One of the people leading this likely farce is Simon Wessley whose previous work includes a reasonably well debunked study of ME which was used to make it harder for sufferers to get support or recognition. Streeting knows exactly what outcome he wants from this

Government-funded ME/CFS trial 'one of greatest medical scandals of 21st century' | 20 February 2018 - The ME Association
A controversial medical trial part-funded by the Department of Work of Pensions will emerge as “one of the greatest medical scandals of the 21st century” an MP today claimed.
