Another major sourse of food waste comes from grocery stores and restaurants. The amount of waste they generate is breath-taking.

As a consumer, I meet my frustration with end-stage produce by composting. At least those rotted bits can nourish my garden. My garden’s veg lasts FOR WEEKS, btw.

Produce is shipped so many miles, and warehoused en route, that by time consumers buy it, it’s at the end of it’s useable life span. Veg from my garden lasts weeks. Veg from the store is often bad within days.

Maybe that’s the real story: we’re being sold is not local, not fresh, and ready to rot.

Not a telly, but we bought a digital projector and a huge screen. Decided that since we only stream these days, and can access local channels elsewhere in the house on the rare occasion, a TV was overkill.

Love it. Best part? The screen & projector are hidden in plain sight when not in use.
