There is absolutely no reason to follow me. I hardly even post pictures of my dog.
Paper chain to clip cards to! A couple swags of real greenery to put above a door and make everything smell nice.

Observing my college kid: making the course work easier makes him less engaged, not more. And he prefers and chooses online courses but does way better in person.

There is a long gap for upwardly mobile people when higher income doesn't mean more wealth, because you have to do things like fix your teeth.

Menards by us had a door department with a bunch of freestanding doors including a Hobbit door for a while.

Years ago when I worked in a deli we did this all the time and then one of my coworkers hit the seam of the pit and sliced through to the tendons in the palm of her hand.

My favorite thing is how the ad algo can't tell pro from anti. When I was still on Facebook I was reading lots of exvangelical accounts and id get so many Christian and homeschool curricula ads.

No problem, I didn't mean to come off all fighty

That's taking away their money. No longer handling cop lawsuits is one form of defunding them
November 27, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Abolitionists are suggesting no cops; defunders are asking us to use the only power we seen to have, which is controlling money.

Reformers have been pitching reform for at least 50 years (remember Serpico was 1973) and failing. So maybe it's not because the last round was called defund.

How can we reform them without taking away some of their money?

Seen, and appreciated. Of course that stick with you!

Muffin tin size pecan pie tart is a better crust to goo ratio anyway

And they did it, like, a decade ago? Maybe more. It was in my Scout parent era at least.

Local troops are volunteer run so you might run into Evangelical leadership in random places, just like in Girl Scouts, but the leadership is way less open to that then you'd expect from such an inherently conservative group, and it's very hierarchical.

30 years ago the really awful Evangelicals stuck to Awana /mission trips and the medium ones found Scouts to be fine as is. It was the Mormons dominating BSA nationally and they got out of it like a decade ago. In the Midwest BSA was always more Catholic/Mainline.

I was both raised around Evangelicals and was a Cub/Boy Scout parent and volunteer for a decade.

But they already have a ton of youth groups at churches to take up their energy. Scouting is barely holding on as it is, even with brand recognition, real estate and a ton of adults who came up doing it.

I think they'll fail. They've failed at replacing the girl scouts already.
