FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE — The music series "Friday Night Live" returns to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (129 Simcoe St.) in #Amherstburg Nov. 7.
Performers include Doc & The Rev, Monique Moisenko, Phil Nitz, Johnny Mac, Jim Vance and the St. Andrew's choir.
Free admission, donations welcome.

I join many others in being saddened by the passing of Ken Dryden. I had the honor to meet him at a political event in 2007, where I took this picture of him signing an autograph. At the event, Ken was kind enough to field a series of hockey questions.

The free entertainment series "Music off the Back Porch" returns to the Park House Museum this Friday evening (Sept. 5) with the Compass Rose band and the Bluegrass Bunch performing. Starts at 5:30 p.m. Donations to the Park House Museum are welcome. Bringing your own lawn chair is recommended.

Performers include Foxy Doe and Linda Girard.
Runs 6-8 p.m. (weather permitting), no admission charge, donations welcome.

LIVING HISTORY FESTIVAL — Fort Malden National Historic Site in Amherstburg presented its annual festival Aug. 2-3. Military eras from different centuries were represented. Encampments, demos, musket and canon firings, a "river battle" and more were held.

The #Amherstburg's Gone Car Crazy show is underway and the streets are crowded with both cars and people. It runs until 3 p.m. with the awards ceremony is at 2 p.m.

AMHERSTBURG ART CRAWL — The #Amherstburg Art Crawl was presented July 18-20 by the Art Amherstburg Society. Tours, a social, a Jr. Art Crawl, artists throughout the downtown core, WSO performances, mural unveilings and more were part of the event.

MUSIC FESTIVAL RAISES $85,000 - The McGregor Music Festival committee presented a cheque for $85,000 to the @windsorccf this evening at the home of committee chair Sue LeClair. The festival drew 825 people to Co-An Park June 8. Proceeds benefit the patient assistance fund.

The first day of the "Fill the Bus" food drive started Saturday but it continues Sunday (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) Buses are at Sobeys, No Frills and Walmart with food also being collected at Mercato in Amherstburg. Proceeds help the Amherstburg Food & Fellowship Mission, ACS and Be The Light Ministry.

FORT MALDEN MEDIEVAL FAIRE — The first-ever Fort Malden Medieval Faire debuted in #Amherstburg June 14, when these photos were taken. It continued June 15. The Renaissance fair was presented by Faires.ca.

RIBS & RAGTIME — @amherstburgfreedom.bsky.social hosted its annual event and, as part of the 50th anniversary, King St. between Gore St. and Simcoe St. in #Amherstburg was given the additional title of "Mac Simpson Way" in honour of the museum's co-founder. Black Orchid provided the entertainment.

DECORATION DAY -@RoyalCdnLegion Br. 157 held its annual Decoration Day June 1. It is held to pay respects to those unnamed soldiers who succumbed to war-gotten injuries and illnesses. Legion members who died within the last year are also honored.

I was honoured to be one of the judges for the "Student Pix" exhibit at the Gibson Gallery in #Amherstburg. There is a lot of young talent on display! Exhibit continues through June 1, award reception May 31 at 3:30 p.m. Students are from the Greater Essex County District School Board.

The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce held its 20th annual Business Excellence Awards May 8 at the Columbian Club Hall in McGregor. Sixteen awards plus three more special Milestone Awards were presented throughout the evening.

"SHOUT FOR JOY" - The Nathaniel Dett Chorale came to Windsor May 3 for a concert as part of the Amherstburg Freedom Museum's 50th anniversary. Under the direction of conductor D. Brainerd Blyden-Taylor and collaborative pianist Dakota Scott-Digout, the chorale performed for about two hours.
