VVZ-149 is a novel, non-opioid, non-NSAID analgesic drug: It inhibits type 2 glycine transporter and type 2A serotonin receptor.

In this phase 3 trial, VVZ-149 showed a significant reduction of pain and opioid use within the first 12h after surgery.

Somebody let my neurosurgeons know please!
Severe PPCs were more common in the ‘low etCO₂’ group (35 % vs. 18 %). Propensity score matching did not alter the results, showing a robust association.

No significant difference was found in overall PPCs between ‘low etCO₂ (below 35 mmHg)’ and ‘normal to high etCO₂ (≥ 35 mmHg)’ patients (20 % vs. 19 %).

Did you know that ferric carboxymaltose can cause hypophosphatemia?

In the DeFicit trial we evaluated if this could be mitigated by oral phosphate supplementation.

#PatientBloodManagement
The DeFicit #RCT found that oral phosphate supplementation for 30 days after ferric carboxymaltose administration did not affect mean lowest phosphate levels, but reduced the incidence of hypophosphatemia.

Could Aspirin also be promising for MINS?

POISE-2 would say no, but what about in a cohort of patients with confirmed MINS?
#Sepsis induced myocardial injury (SIMI) has a high mortality rate, and effective treatment strategies are limited.

This analysis of the MIMIC-IV database reported that aspirin use was associated with reduced mortality in patients with SIMI.
