After graduating from college, I spent 2 years coaching. I judged so many debates....so many debates. So many.

Thus, I have basically turned down all requests since. I recall judging a college debate at NU one year I was living in Chicago & a HS round in Louisville back in the early 90s.

8/ A public service reminder:

This entire exercise is an absurd, imaginary world for legal experts.

That's because the truth is:

It's not an armed conflict.
The laws of war thus don't apply.

The more restrictive rules of human rights apply.
It's extrajudicial killing under that law.

Which are the worst emitting SOEs?

"5 largest SOEs in 2023: Saudi Aramco, Coal India, CHN Energy, National Iranian Oil Co., and Jinneng Group."

CHN Energy and Jinneng Group are both Chinese SOEs.

"The top 5 investor-owned companies, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, TotalEnergies, and BP are responsible for ...5.1% of global fossil CO2 emissions). However, this is still considerably lower than the ...17.6% of global fossil CO2 emissions) linked to the 5 largest state-owned entities in 2023"

Because the problem is often state-owned enterprises!

"the 2023 update disaggregates...emissions, attributing them to individual companies, the largest of which are state-owned....68 [of these] companies...[emitted] 53% of global fossil fuel and cement CO2 emissions in 2023."
