A Sword Would Be Easier
I now understand all those fantasy epics where the protagonist’s motivation is that they made a promise to somebody on their deathbed…

Gig last night really had the community feeling.
Chatting to a stranger before going in and realise that the dance workshop they'd attended was hosted by my neighbour.
Bouncing into people from my uni course in the circle pit.
Seeing old friends from the burlesque scene and looking out for each...

Communities need used-book shops.

As the trends in our world are increasingly standardized and entrenched by "predictive" technologies that stifle innovation and reduce human actions into economic categories...

We need a full range of possibilities for readers and communities to explore and share.

Went to lambrini girls. Went into the circle pit with a walking stick, carrying a coat and scarf with a sweater around my waist. Got an elbow to the head. Came out with all my belongings*.
Bumped into (at high velocity) folks from my uni course.
Superb gig.

*all my belongings need a good wash now

Think it's important to note that Unbound is still dicking over their (former) authors. Don't pay them, buy from places that are actually paying the authors!
Quick note to anyone thinking of buying my books: please purchase the new Swift Press versions, NOT the relatively small number of Unbound versions still knocking about, & being sold by OOINYA. Unbound stopped paying me for my work early in 2024 and I will never see a penny for these books.

UNBOUND AUTHORS: Leftover copies of your books in the UK (MacMillan) warehouse will be pulped within the next week or two. DM me for a link to the warehouse stock list and contacts.

If you have no dosh, another publisher (Wilton Sq) is willing to buy the books & distribute on a 50/50 profit split

This was obvious from the moment it was announced, but still worth mentioning. The genocide never ended.
The diplomatic "achievement" of the ceasefire was to recalibrate the tempo of the genocide sufficiently to get it off the front pages and the news bulletins, thus alleviating the political pressure on Israel's western accomplices.

The NGO’s chief says last month’s ceasefire ‘risks creating a dangerous illusion that life in Gaza is returning to normal’

A few months ago i was getting really unwell. My chronic symptomsc were getting worse, and some neuro stuff was going on which was not only unpleasant but had me very anxious that this could be something really bad. Some of this was paranoia but also i just wasnt doing well at all.

5⭐️ for Modern Gothic. Not often a short story collection will get an over all 5stars as i usually find one or two stories are stronger than others. But each story in this really hit the mark for me. Unique stories that really felt like they understood the genre.

A lot of people imbue way too much cultural protestantism into their leftist politics.

Revolution as Rapture

Charismatic Messiah (Whether Bernie, Mamdani or whomever.) and accusing them of being an anti-christ when they don't do what you personally thought they would.

Trying to figure out a design i can lino print for Christmas cards when I'm not actually very good at lino printing. And also reads a line between whimsy and goth since there will only be one design that has to suit all recipients.

Don't worry about me, but maybe share Skyla's direct buy store b/c that's where she makes the absolute most money - and she has vet bills. I cannot imagine seeing an author post "I have two cats nearing the end" and go oh, I should steal from her.

I detect this in a lot of the Type A grindset entrepreneur podcast bros - a sense that if they ever stopped working, or at least if they ever stopped *performing* productiveness, they'd turn gauzy & vanish. That an afternoon down by the river playing Pooh sticks would leave them tweaking & jittery.
