I should mention, I didn't take the photo. It was on Reddit but the OP deleted their account so I can't credit them. The only photo I have of it is back before decent camera-phones.

My favorite tower! Especially loved seeing the ghost pirate ship when the fog is particularly dense:

Google has grouped my photos by face into me, Gregg, my mom, and a snail I took one pic of 8 years ago.

Some details from the print series. And a write-up of the process behind making the original version: roberthodgin.com/project/mean...

In total, over 400 prints were sold over 4 runs. The physical prints were a challenge to make cost effective, since print shops aren't too keen on offering discounts for 1-of-1 print series, and each print I sold was unique. Luckily, my friends at @nervo.us were able to help me out.

It is the 4 year anniversary of the first run of Meander river prints.

It remains my favorite project to date (actually, maybe its a tie between this and the Planetary iPad app from 2011 roberthodgin.com/project/plan... ... okay maybe a 3-way tie with Magnetosphere)

The position of the moss then serves as a source for a custom wetmap which is used to make the stone surface more varied in color and reflectivity.

The moss starts as inflated mounds using some VDB growth, and then points are scattered for the moss itself. A small number of these points are destined to be small purple flowers.

Some of the pieces would be randomly cracked and chipped.

Some BTS from the moss lantern series.
The toro forms adhered to the basic structure for this style of lantern, but then I exaggerated some of the features to make them feel a bit more otherworldly.

A more recent modification of this setup uses procedurally generated Japanese tōrō lanterns as the base for the moss growth. The moss pays attention to surface orientation, shade, cracks, and produces a wetmap to help with the stone wear and tear.

Moss R&D.
This started as an excuse to learn more about running Houdini from the command line. I am able to provide a string as an input parameter, and the Houdini project will create the 3D letters and drop them onto the ground and let them settle, then the moss sim kicks in and weatherizes them.

You know me too well. Iceland in the light variant.

A proof of concept audio vis from a couple months back. Abusing the Gaea erosion system in a feedback loop solver, and using isolated stems for audio inputs.

One day I will revisit this setup...

Remember to avoid strenuous activity after the big Thanksgiving meal. It will aid with digestion.
