Twitter is deceptively more active thanks to a timeline that changes on you every few minutes, but if you utilize lists you'll see people aren't tweeting much.
Who is active are blue checks who get $.03 for tweet engagements. So a lot of dumb stuff gets shared to get people to reply or QT.
