He is perched centre of picture on a mossy fallen branch. You can see his grey/blue cap that extends down its back and wings. A white and rusty brown striped front leading down to his yellow legs and feet A Grey Heron, slowly and meticulously, stalking through a thin reed bed. He watches the water for any movement of fish or amphibians for his next meal A Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker shuffled towards the top of a stump, alertly watching for danger with each movement. The woodpecker stands out beautifully from the dark background, its red cap and flanks, a dull white front and black and white head and wings

One from Fawsley on Friday for #ThickTrunkTuesday. The removal of most of the #trees on the Horse Pond dam this year means that more of the tall conifer just beyond can be seen when looking across the lake.
