I block irrationally and far too quickly. Believe me - it’s not you, it’s me. (Well… it’s very occasionally you, but you shouldn’t have been awful.)
Damn him for making me think warmly of him! (Yes, he was great.)

It’s not over til they measure that floor plank…
December 7, 2025 at 2:38 PM
And they’re definitely not leaping onto another Reform talking point… not at all.

I’m a Lewis fan (we won’t talk about that right now), but Norris should have won Silverstone 2024. He really should. One would have hoped they’d have learned how not to be a rabbit caught in the headlights with strategy since then…

I didn’t know I was following this many F1 fans! My feed is a collective “wtaf”!

What’s the harm in making sure a young driver gets a ton of abuse?
November 30, 2025 at 5:44 PM
How is it convenient? It’s not convenient for him.

Young driver under pressure makes a mistake. It’s Occam’s Razor.

They have been quite special! Losing a race where you can’t overtake takes something.
November 30, 2025 at 5:35 PM
And now they’ve opened up Antonelli to abuse - nice, GP, nice!

Advent begins on Sunday… you know you want to….

(We put ours up last week, because I like it, the kids wanted it and couldn’t see a reason not to. It’s nice and cheery in any event.)

A jury trial or…?
November 26, 2025 at 8:32 PM
I’m 43. I’m a very quick typist. But if I want the notes to stay in my head, I’m best off writing them by hand.

I’m just astonished about the seeming power of the cover letter. I’ve never actually been that bothered about them when hiring.
November 15, 2025 at 11:07 AM
to even start this charade in the U.S. courts.
November 15, 2025 at 10:54 AM
I know - I didn’t think you were MAGA. And I’m sure that’s what he’s doing.

When he’s done shakedowns in the U.S., it largely looks like the entity needed FCC approval for one thing or another - hence the settlement.

I hope the BBC don’t cave and pay anything, but it will be expensive
November 15, 2025 at 10:54 AM
In order to settle, there has to be a tiny possibility of an actionable case (or the BBC needing US federal approval, which it doesn’t). That’s not going to happen. And $1 billion is laughable.

What is the mechanism for him to sue for a programme that was not broadcast in the country in which he intends to sue?
November 15, 2025 at 10:22 AM
It’s not enough.
November 14, 2025 at 10:02 AM
I know. Very much, I know. That’s why I used my character limit saying successive govts.

But the govt needs to raise money and if they’re not doing it via income tax because of the political implications, they’ll do more like the above. And then we’ll bemoan stagnant productivity.
November 14, 2025 at 9:53 AM
Is disingenuous politicking and does not incentivise the right sort of behaviours that we want from the tax system. People shouldn’t be worried about taking that promotion means they’d be worse off (or close to it).
November 14, 2025 at 9:46 AM
But they do things like clawing back child benefit and the personal allowance on “people that work”, creating incentives to salary sacrifice, work fewer days etc because the marginal rate ends up being so high. They’ve done that just so they (successive govts) can say we’ve not raised income taxes.
November 14, 2025 at 9:46 AM
I’m absolutely gutted (and furious).
November 14, 2025 at 9:19 AM
So very much this!

We should be using the tax system to incentive work and not have people reconsidering promotions or moving to 4 days a week etc.

Why on earth irredeemably broken?

1. You’re only talking about News & Current Affairs.
2. Why can’t that be fixed?
