19. Anna B Savage - You & I Are Earth
This is the soundtrack to sitting by a log fire, with a glass of red in hand, feeling peacefully content. All is full of love - both with her relationship and to Ireland where she now calls home. A hug of an album.
Favourite track - Mo Cheol Thú

20. Rich(ard) Dawson - End Of The Middle
Now just Rich - gone were the 40 minute epics from his previous album and in it’s place, these nine warm, engaging insights into the repeating patterns of behaviour on generations of a family
Favourite track - Polytunnel

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen it - such a joy to see it in a cinema again - even with the extra bits!
Part 2 cut out the opening montage and jumped straight into Chapter 6. Animation at the end after the closing credits - from Fortnite apparently

1. O-Ren’s back story is extended
2. The fight in the House Of Blue Leaves remains in colour and is extended
3. The “reveal” at the end of Part 1 has been taken out
I only ever saw both parts projected once when released - great to see/hear it projected again!

21. Gruff Rhys - Dim Probs
Unfortunately the specifics of the lyrics are lost on me (not a Welsh speaker - although I know a few words and phrases) - but regardless, the album still feels warm and joyful both musically and with Gruff’s comforting vocals
Favourite track - Dos Amdani

I went in with low expectations considering the reviews I’ve read - I have to say I quite enjoyed it!
I’m a fan of Edgar Wright’s (have been since Spaced) - it was it good old romp with bite - let’s face it - this dystopian setup felt a bit to real…

My nephew and his girlfriend are coming to do my tree next weekend - the standard by which they will be judged 😂

22. Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory
Always looking for new starts, instead of another solo album, Sharon wrote an album with her band. Insecurity and anxiety are the main themes - wearing their post-punk influences on their sleeve. Groovy and moody!

23. Wednesday - Bleeds
Bodies pulled from rivers, houses burning down, teeth being smashed out with baseball bats - I can see why they are called Wednesday! Soaked in gorgeous guitars and country twangs
Favourite track - Bitter Everyday. Oh, and Wasp - that throat shredding!

Such musicianship! With excerpts from Dune, Man Of Steel, Gladiator, Interstellar, Pirates Of The Caribbean and of course, The Lion King - amongst others! A gorgeous evening - and a real treat to sit in the box - with private bar! Can get used to that!!

24. Blondshell - If You Asked For A Picture
Confessional songs of conflicts with your mother, failed relationships, body dysmorphia and dealing with past baggage - at times sarcastic but always full of attitude - wrapped up in gorgeous 90s guitars
Favourite track - Event Of A Fire

25. Big Thief - Double Infinity
The word “new age” popped up in reviews of this album. Down to a trio and probably looking to change direction, I still approached with caution - but needn’t have worried - they’ve never sounded as big and gorgeous!
Favourite track - All Night All Day

(Yes, I know I had a Funky Chunky Kit Kat earlier. It was a taste tester. Stop pointing at me!)

Here are numbers 26 - 40 (artist and titles in alt text)
I did want to hear De La Soul, Lily Allen and Just Mustard’s albums first - which may have changed the list - but with continued gig announcements, the chances of me getting to them before Christmas is slim! 😂

First off - thought confectionery at checkouts was now a great big NO!!
Secondly - what does a Funky Chunky Kit Kat taste like? I’m about to find out…

I’m afraid I found this uncomfortable to watch - but I think that’s the point of it
It is a beautiful piece of queer cinema - and there are moments of laugh out loud comedy - but a sub-dom relationship with a sub still figuring it out is the bit that made it tough…

Sometimes you want to jump up and down, or give it your best dad dance, or be pummelled with noise, or sing your heart out. And there are times you want to sit with a pint and enjoy the company of an indie legend - warm, engaging and funny!
