"Ordinary people are going to see their income tax bills increase"

@adrianramsay.bsky.social explains how Labour's budget fails to address unprecedented cost of living pressures- and how a wealth tax would raise revenues to fund our infrastructure and public services.

@goonpod.bsky.social I can finally reveal my votes for Top 20 British Sitcom.
In order of preference, they are
1. Steptoe and Son.
2. Porridge.
3. The Good Life.
There's a very informative Radio Times 50th anniversary piece about the latter, which I can recommend.

There are proposals to cancel Indefinite Leave to Remain.
That would tear families apart — including my own.
My wife could have been separated from her children under. People like my friend Tariq, who’ve lived here since babies, could be taken from their communities.

These people are Britain.

Green MP Carla Denyer accuses Shabana Mahmood of trying to "out Reform Reform" and says "toxic racist narratives and the scapegoating of migrants" are to blame for "tearing our country apart" not migrants.

Shabana Mahmood is just as much of a ladder-puller as Priti Patel and Suella Braverman.
I have little patience for those who don't know - or choose to ignore - the more distant history of migration to this island, but to block it out within 2 or 3 generations beggars belief. #RefugeesWelcome

Labour lost the trust of left wing and centrist voters by chasing yet spectacularly failing to attract right wing voters.

It's quite simply the most disastrous strategy they could have pursued.

And entirely self-inflicted. None of the extreme chaos the Tories left them had to be tackled this way.
