For clarity: my moral allegiance in this moment of such enormous suffering is to the PEOPLE of Israel, Gaza, and Iran.
The REGIMES of those places—Hamas militants, the Netanyahu administration and its IDF and “settler” agents; the Iranian regime—can go to hell, the lot of them.

This nicely sums up my position as well.
My moral allegiance is also to the people in my country being cruelly rounded up and deported without due process, some dying in the process and most leaving anguished and traumatized family and friends, and I have similar sentiments for my regime.

This is where military officers who understand their oath and understand their history sacrifice their careers and quite possibly their lives to refuse illegal orders.
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:
-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

Such a good read. While I’m agnostic, I’m sympathetic to the Christianity of C.S. Lewis—via imprinting on the Narnia books at a very young age, most likely—and I’m appalled at what passes for mainstream “Christianity” these days: no love, no empathy, no acceptance.

Democratic messaging to our military about killing civilians extrajudicially is too polite. Soliders, sailors and Marines need fair warning that at a future point, a restored military judicial process will review these slayings, and those executing an unlawful order will be subject to that process.

So here’s what apparently happened: they tried to indict Comey on the last day of the statute with a three-count indictment. The grand jury rejected one. Rather than cross it out or indicate on the indictment that only two of the three counts were voted upon, Halligan creates…/1
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.
