During the day workshop, Dr Hájková will be joined by both Dr Will Jones, who translated the book from German to English, and Professor Helen Finch. Dr Hájková's book will be used as a springboard for discussion on Queer Studies in the context of Holocaust Studies.

Queerness remains one of the most stigmatized and overlooked aspects of Holocaust history. Dr Hájková's book explores same-sex desire in the Holocaust, challenging this silence, weaving together compelling stories of German, Dutch, Czech, and Polish Jewish Holocaust victims and survivors.

The workshop will take place on 19 June 2026 at Senate House (London). Lewis and Bill welcome a wide range of papers and the deadline to submit an application is 15 February 2026.

The workshop will take place on 22 June 2026 at Stewart House (London) and Professor Peter Gatrell (University of Manchester, Emeritus) will deliver a keynote lecture.

The workshop invites postgraduate students and early career researchers to continue pushing the boundaries of Holocaust Studies by interrogating the scope and reach of mid-century European fascist antisemitism across the Mediterranean Sea and into the African and Asian continents.
