if i may add, it's just as bad when said "friend" openly hates something you enjoy to the point they won't even let you mention it or talk about it. you shouldn't have to censor your enjoyment of something for someone else's comfort, esp if it's something you've tried to share w them before.
If you have to impress your friends with your taste in media for them to not judge you, maybe consider looking for friends who appreciate you more.
But honestly as soon as you realize your friends judge you for things you enjoy, run. That's usually a bad sign.

One of the biggest game changer for reading I did some years ago was: not give a fuck what I read. Something deep& meaningful? Nice yes! Something without a plot at all and just some cozy vibes: fuck yes. Something mainstream with lots of cliche, fae, five boyfriends for the mc: yes gimme.
