A genuinely fun thing about writing this article was that one of the people I interviewed was a Presbyterian pastor named Rob Christ. Trying to figure out how to quote him without making it sound like I was quoting Jesus Christ, was an interesting challenge. Also, talk about nominative determinism!
Today in I’m Very Bad at Self-Promotion, this article that I wrote about the rise of contemplative practices in contemporary Christian contemplative practices just came out. This was really fun to research and write! I could write a whole giant essay about my dude St. Benedict and his Rule.

Trump said today he'll be pardoning former Honduran President Juan Hernandez, who was convicted of drug trafficking and weapons charges in 2024 and sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Waging a drug war on Venezuela while pardoning a narco-terrorist takes hypocrisy to a level once thought impossible.

I understand why faculty in Texas are unwilling to risk trying to exercise wildcat labor power in the face of an anti-labor state. In Illinois faculty have lots of power to use if they’re willing to be brave. Students will, I expect, stand with you. But you are going to have to be the leaders.

It should go without saying, but the president has no authority to do this, and anyone reporting the story needs to say as such.

If they ever get around to building this thing, it should be bulldozed on Day 1 of a new administration. No messing around, no hemming and hawing about procedure or costs. Order heavy equipment in and start knocking it down immediately, as surely as an overthrown tyrant's statues would be torn down.

I have a new Plur1bus (Pluribus) theory; at least I haven't found it elsewhere.

Carol saw something under the tarp related to pets. Where are the feral cats and dogs who are suddenly uncared for? Did the pod take them with them? Horses?

She told them that this proved Canada can work well for Alberta’s interests: loud boos.

This ain’t a base that wants Smith to work with a Liberal PM on a better industrial carbon tax.
