We urge the Scottish Government to act swiftly to enact these reforms and bring the country’s #abortion laws in line with 21st century medical practice, human rights standards and World Health Organization guidelines.

The expert group’s findings are clear: to meet human rights obligations, #Scotland must decriminalise #abortion and legalise access on request up to 24 weeks. These reforms are both essential and long overdue.

#Abortion is still not legal on request in #Scotland and remains criminalised outside of specific circumstances, exposing women to potential prosecution, fuelling harmful stigma, and deterring healthcare providers from delivering essential reproductive care.

If implemented, these changes would mark a major step towards bringing Scotland's #abortion law in line with international public health and human rights standards, including @who.int guidance.
