Thinking again about how the Campbell's soup executive melted down about making "poor people" food, and the broad-ranging disgust rich people now for the very idea that their job might provide a product or service (especially to the poor) and not just siphon up money for no return and no reason.

The Myth of a Rightward Realignment

Let’s discard some stubborn misconceptions about Trump’s support and what happened in the 2024 election that are obscuring our understanding of a profound de-alignment of the established order.

I argued a bit with an "AI" defender who admittedly sounded somewhat reasonable and then checked out his timeline to find he's still really banging the drum on "Crypto is doing great."

This is disgusting.

Ronald Reagan refused to acknowledge the AIDS crisis. Even refused to help his "friend from the Hollywood days" Rock Hudson.

George W. Bush waited 7 years to recognize World AIDS Day.

And now we are back to a POS GOP POTUS who will ignore it.

I started following this guy on Facebook for the thirst traps but honestly now I just want to know what his deal is (non-derogatory). First there's all the erudite quotations of ancient philosophers and now he's posting a video of himself eating a raw onion covered with honey.

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

When I think "where the vast majority of Americans actually are," I think about the millionaire lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein & Harvey Weinstein & Donald Trump who was recently in the news for threatening to sue a pierogi seller in Martha's Vineyard, where he has one of his homes.

Being seeing more artists, creators, podcasters pick up on this and I love that we are letting the audience know that refusing to use GenAi isn't just an indicator of inherent quality but a demand to have some personal integrity about our work.

I want to see more of it in the future.

I would push "Return of the Jedi" further down and "The Last Jedi" much further down. I will go to my grave yelling that TLJ is a badly written film in general and people only love because it did make bold creative choices ("bold" isn't always "good" though!) and pissed off a lot of toxic fans.
i would push rogue one down and bring solo and the last jedi up. i’d also place attack of the clones at the bottom.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

The eternal struggle: while working should I listen to this podcast or video about a topic I'm very interested in even though the host is someone I'd probably run over with my car if I was sure I could get away with it.

Media literacy is down, so to be clear, when the WSJ writes “Ultimately, the fact pattern Meta relies on to meet its conflicting objectives strains credibility” about your accounting practices and runs an accompanying flowchart, that is the equivalent of a 500-foot neon sign reading “FRAUD”
This feels like one of those stories you're going to look at a year from now and say to yourself, "Why didn't I move more of my portfolio into cash?" **

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

My therapist and I've been talking about my trauma and I mentioned I'm reluctant to talk about it, but then he got me to admit I'm not exactly subtle about it when it shows up in my art (even in the autobiographical playlist I made a few months back). I guess that's what being a creative is about.

I found out today that transphobic "journalist" Benjamin Ryan also agrees with the conspiracy theory embraced by the far-right that Matthew Shepard was murdered not because he was gay but because he was secretly a meth kingpin. That's one plot twist I should have seen coming.
