This Day in FPS History
20 years ago today, iD Software released the most divisive, or maybe just the most misunderstood entry in the #DOOM franchise: DOOM 3.
Realizing the horror aspects the OG already heavily implied to the fullest, most love it or hate it.
August 3, 2024 at 8:01 PM
FPS FANS: at Reload we love indie fps games of all flavors. That includes the melee heavy imsim CORPUS EDAX which you should definitely check out below, as well as the titles other indie devs will share in the comments. Always good stuff here.

This Day in FPS History
25 years ago today, #Xatrix set us on a path of vengeance against a crime syndicate and its #Kingpin.
Extremely brutal, with a host of profanity and a pretty banger soundtrack by Cypress Hill, it sure was an experience.
What do you remember from the OG?

This Day in FPS History 28 years ago today,
idSoftware released #Quake. While the world is holding its breath, waiting for a new entry in the series, let's just celebrate this undisputed milestone in the world of FPS and gaming in general! What's your favorite OG Quake memory?

This Day in FPS History 28 years ago today,
iD Software, Dario and Milo Casali, and the late Ty Haldemann of TeamTNT brought us 64 new maps with #FinalDOOM's TNT:Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment, dividing the fanbase quite a bit. Have you pistol-started all of Plutonia yet?

This Day in FPS History
13 years ago today, Gearbox made it out of development hell and released #DukeNukemForever. Reception was lackluster and fans disappointed, especially with its 2001 E3 demo in mind. But is it really such a bad game? What did you like about DNF?
June 10, 2024 at 10:59 PM
This Day in FPS History 22 years ago today, #4DRulers picked a bad time to release an, admittedly mid, arena multiplayer shooter. But then again, #Gore lets you unload a quad-shotty on chainsaw-wielding skeletons, that's got to count for something. Were you the ultimate soldier?

This Day in FPS History 20 years ago today,
Starbreeze Entertainment and Tigon Studios proved that games based on movie IPs can actually be... pretty amazing. The Chronicles of #Riddick: Escape from #ButcherBay's playstyles and compelling story are something to be experienced. Have you?

This Day in FPS History 22 years ago today, British dev studio #RageSoftware switched soccer balls for rocket launchers, releasing #MobileForces. While being one of the few of it's kind to offer vehicle gameplay, the mark it left is comparably small. Did it leave one on you?

This Day in FPS History
30 years ago today, David Gray graced us with the FPS version of his original Hugo adventure series, #Nitemare3D.
More than reminiscent of Wolfenstein 3D in its presentation, it's an interesting sidestep into the horror adventure genre.
Did it spook you?
