What could we offer in our patreon that would convince you to subscribe?

More homebrew monster?
The wyrmling’s homebrew world?
Advice blog posts?

Something else you would love to see us create?

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: What do you know about post apocalyptic DnD settings?

Me: What are you wanting to know?

9yo DM: Is Dark Sun fun or should I make up my own setting?

Me: Dark Sun is amazing, but I would love to see what you come up with.

Monster of the Week from the 9yo DM:

These are not normal fire ants (which are bad enough), but these will swarm you and attack with actual fire... and poison... and make you feel dizzy until you fall prone within the swarm.

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: Orcs in my world can be of any alignment, but goblins are evil little terrors.

Me: That’s cool. Are the goblins always evil?

9yo DM: Yes. They are the evil spawn of Thrugahan the Least who hates everyone. He creates them to spread hatred.

Spell of the week from the 9yo DM:

This one should probably be discussed in session zero…

Fear of the Week from the 9yo DM:

You look innocent until the battle begins.

Magic Item of the Week from the 9yo DM:

This cursed ring is great for characters about to travel into the frigid winter wilderness...

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: The only tavern around is a run-down place called the Gassy Gnoll.

Me: The Gassy Gnoll?

9yo DM: Yep.

Me: Is that a JFK reference?

9yo DM: The guy on the 50 cent piece?

Me: Never mind. I go in slowly… keeping an eye out for assassins.

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: The Elven Necromancer says as he is dying, “If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged? Will it all remain the same?”

Me: I look at him and say, “Close your eyes! Close your eyes! You gotta close your eyes for me.”

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: You see a skeleton jumping towards you kicking its heels and singing…

Me: Oh no…

9yo DM: Yes! It is Tom Bonebadil. 🎵 Old Tom Bonebadil is a creepy fellow,
Bright blue his aura is, and his bones are yellowed. 🎵

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: Let’s just play LEGOs today instead of DnD.

Me: That would be fine with me. I love playing LEGOs with you.

<five minutes later>

9yo DM: My LEGO orc attacks your knight with his long sword. And the dragon is approaching from the west. Roll for initiative.

Gary Gygax warned: “This is not for the faint of heart.”

The S-Series modules—Tomb of Horrors, White Plume Mountain, Barrier Peaks, and Tsojcanth —pushed D&D to its limits.

These tips go hand in hand with each other.

Your players can’t do cool things with the terrain features if you don’t put them in the battle scene.

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: When you get a job, will you buy me a bunch of DnD books so I can read them when you are at work?

Me: We have a bunch of DnD books.

9yo DM: But I want new ones so it still seems like we are playing DnD every day.

Conversations with the 9yo DM:

9yo DM: If an ettin found the Eye of Vecna, could he pluck out an eye on his other head and still gain the benefits of the artifact?

Me: Deep thoughts…

9yo DM: And what about a thri-kreen finding the hand? It wouldn’t be nearly the sacrifice.

Conversations with the 8yo DM:

8yo DM: It’s my birthday month! Are we going to upgrade to the 9yo DM or are we just going to use redwyrmling?

Me: Which do you prefer?

9yo DM: Let’s go with 9yo DM for now.

Me: I am excited about your birthday but it is hard to say 9yo DM.

Conversations with the 8yo DM:

8yo DM: Demogorgon has two heads… what’s up with the flower face?

Me: The monster never called itself demogorgon. The kids named it that.

8yo DM: It would have been cooler with two heads.

Conversations with the 8yo DM:

8yo DM: Can you tell me a little about the olden days of D&D?

Me: Of course…

<one hour later>

Me: So that is when your mama started playing these adventures with me and my friends.

8yo DM: Is that when you started your 25 year campaign?
