Procuring multiple systems with locked in data and no APIs is costing the county billions and probably killing a lot of people.
When will we spend the money instead on building and maintaining a single common government platform.

The absolute obsession with marketing everything into a brand means no one can contribute an important resource to the commons without having to try and create a mini cult of personality around it, and I think that might have been *not great* for our society overall

Banal observation, sorry, but conversations in Prague really brought home to me that while countries come and go, cities have a historical existence and character that typically is far more resilient.

A major barrier to NHS productivity is that it thinks of cost cutting in silos not value adding across systems. This means that lower costs in one silo can cause huge waste in other silos making the whole system far less productive...

One candidate literally couldn’t submit a form on time. If people can’t put in any effort - why should they get a shot. We all see the sheer graft tds & part time councillors put in years before a run but presidential candidates can rock up a few weeks beforehand. Total nonsense.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Oireachtas may have to look at changing the process by which a person gets on the ballot in presidential elections, which he described as "restrictive".

If Maria S started in good time, she’d probably have been on the ballot. She left it to the wire to get what she needed and, if she has that little respect for the job, she doesn’t deserve it. I 100% endorse this message. The spoiled votes are a 3rd or 4th order story in this election and disproportionate attention and airtime is a measure of the level of editorial discomfort with talking about Connolly’s success and FF/FG failure.
Catherine Connolly got more votes than any other president in history - any pol corr or commentator trying to convince you that the story is actually the spoiled votes is showing you their whole arse, and should be treated accordingly.
