Heather Humphries takes credit for essentially hobbling the gender recognition act for non binary people and under 16’s. I’m livid about this.

Take the comment above this one.

“I supplied some context you might have missed then disagreed on tactics”.

Firstly this assumes that a) she didn’t know the context b) there’s *any* context that we would accept as an excuse for staying in a book award with a man who calls trans women rapists 1/

This was the vote from 2024; you’re taking smoke about the vote from last week.

Google is free!

Legit though, this is just disingenuous to act like it was this other vote we were mad about. This is Fetterman levels of crashing tf out.
July 22, 2025 at 9:06 AM
She didn’t vote no because of that though, she actually didn’t mention mtg being an anti semite at all.

She nailed her colours to the mast by saying the money is *explicitly* about defending Israel, not opposing antisemitism.

We don’t have to speculate as to why she voted no, she told us.
July 22, 2025 at 9:04 AM
That wasn’t what she said in her mea cupla about why she voted for it, she said it’s explicitly about keeping money open for “defending” Israel.

Now if she had said that she was voting no BECAUSE of the billions of dollars in offensive aid in the amendment, she would not be in this shitshow.
July 22, 2025 at 8:58 AM
Can’t believe you’re doubling down on this but let’s clarify - we all knew the amendment was going to fail anyway so it doesn’t matter which way you voted on it.

But the issue we have is not just the way you voted, it’s the way you tried to defend the vote afterwards.

The phrase from their platform is “freedom for all incarcerated people” - and then it follows up in their manifesto with this list of specific demands.

When they say “freedom” they mean freedom in the sense that people in prison have rights, not that we’re literally going to free them from jail.
