I know you already know, but for other folks who don't, Goldsmith was previously head of OLC, is a genuinely brilliant mind on executive authority and separation of powers, and is usually very cautious about making claims this unqualified and direct. That he is saying it so starkly is v significant

Vigorous oversight would have been a better thing when Wicker and almost all Sen Rs voted to confirm Hegseth. They knew he was unqualified and unprepared.

It is certainly not what most of us believe, but anti-immigrant racism isn't new. What is new and disturbing is that its our official policy and enforcing it supercedes Constitutional protections and makes us as bad as Nazi Germany.

Does decorum dictate that a reporter must remain silent when a powerful person singles them out for unprovoked ad hominem verbal attacks in public? I don't think so. It's cowardice and total lack of self respect.

It is sad; very sad. But I can't get over thinking that there will be more press coverage, assigning motive, sabre rattling, & vengeful reactions than there ever was for all the innocent children mowed down in their school rooms. Maybe stop calling it "shooting". It's gun violence and/or gun death.
