the ivory tower world where Jacobin is the far left isn't crazy

it is deliberately disconnected from the rest of the world because it wants to preserve the advantages it has

and deny the fact that the rest of the world doesn't want that
the people who think they're radicals cos they've fixed their political spectrum at the French revolution in 1789

rather than at US independence in 1766

they're the left of the US mainstream because the mainstream is incredibly conservative and right wing

to cleanse the world of sinful thought by ensuring that only Properly Approved knowledge would be permitted
the assumption that someone or something must be granted absolute epistemic authority over all human knowledge is so deeply toxic

it's never actually worked in practice anyway

When technology is assumed to be ontologically Good then any criticism of any element must mean rejecting the whole

I can see how these conflations arise

They're still fucking annoying though
do you think all computer code is AI?

do you think that AI critics must oppose all uses of technology in all circumstances?

This ongoing genocide shows us that international law will be a sham until it can deal with atrocities in real time and prevent the loss of life and living that is happening in Gaza.
Yet the attacks continue unabated, tents are flooded, and people are left homeless, their every attempt at stability and security thwarted.

World, Israel is deceiving you, trampling on your humanity, breaking every promise, and failing to implement any of the agreed-upon terms.

I really believe the tech bros build Ai systems to give confident, if often wrong, answers because that works for them. That’s what they do every day. They don’t understand that most people *need* to be correct, that they don’t have thirteen safety nets to catch them if they make a mistake.

NEW: ICE has torn up its $180M cap on a proposed immigrant-tracking program and is now guaranteeing private surveillance firms at least $7.5M each, with potential payouts reaching $281M per vendor. The change signals a shift from “pilot” to full-scale outsourcing of street-level investigative work.

Fascism too.
