He/They art appreciator, model painter, space whale conspiracy theorist, and ANSI artist apparently?
Really feeling the hole in my heart left behind by #OVER/UNDER today. Flicking though the folder of all the players art I saved and reminiscing about worm horse races, the radio shows, and all the espionage... Never got a chance to use the Bratva bullying coupon @ssugarsp00n.bsky.social made me 😭

We were negotiating with ARIEL through code, trying to discern any useful information. Meanwhile the coalition of bosses were in the most intense meetings. Emotions and stakes were at a pulse pounding, hands shaking all time high. We thought we might "lose" the game if we did not solve it.

However, Martin was still locked in to the Tempest contract. I needed to do the last two. It took many days for reasons I can't spill as they are still sensitive to the still-active game, but I put out my last two. T4 is a design I was asked to make a 1:1 copy of by @fuckyoubaker.bsky.social

This art.. these space cop squad patches were not all Martin Oldman was doing. Outside of my shop, a whole living breathing space station was pounding hour-by-hour with new earth shattering events. Assassinations, Spying, and even the beginnings of an ARG that questioned the entire medium.

I played fully into my character, describing the sights and smells of the shop and the artistic process as my fictional laser machine produced the patches as Martin scrawled away on a terminal screen, stylus in hand. It was my characters biggest success up to this point.

Playing the confidence card won the deal, and I put my nose to the grindstone. I worked closely with each individual squad leader to put out completely unique designs that I did a 1-on-1 consultation for in my Digistitch shop (just imagine a retro futuristic tattoo parlor).

--in exchange for filling out a patch for every current Tempest squad. Some negotiating and anxiety shakes later, thinking that I would get assassinated for being so bold (nobody knew what was truly worth killing for yet), they actually accepted!

Before I knew it all of Tempest wanted patches done by me....which sparked the idea: why don't I ask Tempest to give me a fat lump sum to fill out all of their squads? I got to writing, and before I blinked I had negotiated a contract for 10k credits (a lot at the time)--

It is more than possible, in fact it hits every note on the settings vibes checklist. I was on cloud 9 behind my keyboard as I waved goodbye to officer McGinn and began obsessively collecting patch designs from across military history to analyze in the case of more Tempest jobs(foreshadowing)

That little something, a tiny voice inside my head was cheering me on. I had accidentally, through the desire to make fictional spacebucks, found a hyper-specific art niche that I felt I could say I was pretty good at doing! Each day I could pump out 1-3 of these designs if I had no IRL issue

It was a lot of credits at a pretty respectable pace, because as soon as I pumped one out and the recipient posted it for their business I would see a small crowd of people asking who made it or how it was done. I couldn't keep up with the pace! But I began to feel something in my heart.

I guess I should have expected it, given how eager or foolish everyone was to toss their starting credits around immediately. Before I blinked I was consulting privately with a dozen different customers on completely different projects. Most of which wanted eye-catching ads of their own made.

I digged the vibes, and the retro casette futurism of Mothership (the game setting that #OVER/UNDER takes place in) was in line with what people were pumping out at a breakneck page in the games market. I cracked it open, played with the tools for about an hour to get comfy, and put out my ad:

I turned my eyes to this funny little program I forgot I had called Moebius ANSI Art Editor. I am not smart enough to explain what exactly this program emulates, but its a cute lil program that lets you mimic the appearance of DOS or some kind of Dwarf Fortress thing with a modern tool UI.
