I went to one pain management specialist when I was diagnosed with fibro in 2006. He literally said the only thing they would do is give me pills and they don't work. I asked about alternative therapies and he said if I want that, he couldn't help me.
So I left and have never seen one again.

I mean, jfc, most pain management specialists do not believe in treating pain. If they cannot solve a clear causal underlying condition (bursitis gets steroid injections, stiff shoulder gets PT, etc.) *they will not treat you*.
