The story of your life by Ted Chiang (short stories)
To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
The Swerve: How the world became modern by Stephen Greenblatt (nonfiction)

All these were available through my local library (Seattle)

I feel bad for [Rob]. But this [will be] tremendous content.

If Eze becomes our starting left winger, we need a FB to hold width and overlap instead of asking Eze to hold the width. Hear me out, Hincapie is the Kieran Tierney replacement.

It's become almost like a pavlovian response .... aaaand [here] is where the compliment goes in the checking out script. You end up with lovely stories "oh, these earrings were my grandma's" or 'man, I got this tee at a concert in 05. First time seeing them live"

My wife will always find something to compliment on every cashier: nails, jewelry, tattoo, etc. The funniest thing is how it has rubbed off on me. I'm more standoffish but if she's not around I find myself needing to give a compliment or it will feel like something is missing from the interaction.

And as someone else remarked, there will be all these email senders asking AI to turn their bullet points into an email and all these recipients asking AI to turn these emails into bullet point summaries. Just ecological devastation for the appearance of productivity.

Halfway through and I'm riveted. I NEED the photos! Where are the photos!? (Totally understand if Emanuel would rather not share)

According to my dog, I am not to be trusted in the kitchen bc the smoke detector triggered ONCE like 3 years ago. As soon as the stove turns on she'll poke, whine and grumble until she is let out, regardless of weather, and won't come back in until cooking is over.

I had this conversation once, literally laid out as:
A)Guarantee everyone who needs help gets it but some who don’t need also get it
B)Guarantee no “undeserving” gets it but some who need help won’t get it.
They still chose B b/c A is not “fair”. It must be brain wiring because I cannot fathom it.

Mexican here. Did a year at boarding school in Ireland and the school’s soccer coach was a big Arsenal fan. Our school kits matched the Irish National team for home and Arsenal’s red and white was our away kit.

My great-great-grandfather’s half-sister was the secret daughter of rich LA miner. After he died, she showed up to claim inheritance and it was a scandal! The local papers unearthed all sorts of stories about their frontier romance. Lover’s revenge killings, etc.

As an architect on job sites, I sometimes come across scribbles on framing where workers are teaching each other life skills. Latest was a diagram on how mortgages work, wish I had taken a photo.
