This is insanely bad advice. The only time you ever hear of any legitimate critic buying a retail copy of a game to review is when the publisher is trying to do damage limitation. Which assumes the game is high enough profile that readers are already aware of it.

Reminder that the BBC refused to even acknowledge that the politically awkward VIP lane existed before the government were taken to court over it. Haha the funny man did a funny twoot tho
