It is entirely amusing how many of the UCP MLA brethren object to the recall petitions as 'undemocratic' or going against 'democratic elections'. Yet they fawn with adulating reverence for Preston Manning, who referred to recall and referenda as 'direct democracy'. Seems contradictory.

At some level, all the recall petitions are deliciously ironic. Recall back in the late 1980s Preston Manning was championing 'direct democracy' through referendum and recall. After many years, Manning's folly is laid bare. I can hardly wait for the UCP to dust off the old Triple E Senate chestnut

Must be a typo on the backdrop. I think they missed an 'F'

I recall when I was a UofA Agriculture student in the 1980s, the NE corner of 122 Street and 51 Avenue was an important part of the UofA Farm. Curious how the minister describes the land as 'currently undeveloped green space'. UCP underfunding the UofA created the necessity to part out the UofA Farm

With regard to recall and referenda in the UCP government, is it fair to suggest that these tools/processes wear the fingerprints of Preston Manning?

How incredibly tone deaf. With all the challenges facing Alberta, this misguided MLA figures, now is a good time to discuss abortion. The same old trope, protect rights of unborn, but once born, boot stomp inalienable rights.

Yesterday in the Alberta Legislature, the UCP Premier stated: "We believe in science on this side of the House..." Surely the Premier misspoke. Likely they meant that they believe in pseudoscience. Their Chief of Staff, confirms not understanding science. This may be a side effect of chemtrails.

Clearly, the report demonstrates the extent to which the UCP and their nonsecular ghouls are out of their depth. They demonstrate time and again what poor public money managers they are. Maybe this is why they resort to stomping all over civil rights. LaGrange poisons everything she touches.

UCP reaction to Recall Act petitions may be entertaining if the situation wasn't so serious. Remember when Recall was introduced in the legislature all was puppies and rainbows: democracy in action. Fast forward: UCP goose-steps into the legislature to boot stomp civil rights, democracy be damned

Hmm, the statement appears to be classic 'the leopards ate my face' Will wonders never cease.

Just think of what impact the settlement money needlessly paid to foreign coal mining companies would mean to health care at the Stollery or the Alberta Children's Hospital

Did a leopard just eat someone's face?

Does it really matter what Peter Lougheed would have or would have not done. I get it, he is an admired figure in Alberta politics. What matters is what the current UCP government did and how they did it.
October 29, 2025 at 6:48 PM
The despicability of the UCP government is horrific. Their actions against public education, public health, vulnerable youth, those with substance use challenges, and the environment is without compare in Canadian history. Without exaggeration or hyperbole these actions are fascist actions
October 29, 2025 at 3:38 PM
These are the faces of fascism in Alberta. These are the public faces of the ones responsible for stomping civil rights in Alberta in Bill 2
October 29, 2025 at 3:28 PM
Smith, the memory foam Premier, able to take and hold whatever shape that exerted by an external force until a new external force comes along. So far, the external forces are not kind, considerate or democratic

Good news indeed. Well done
October 28, 2025 at 9:26 PM
"moral imperative" using these words while boot-stomping the charter rights of Albertans is the language of authoritarian governments. Where is the moral imperative to govern with truth, fairness, accountability, transparency and integrity. The UCP government keeps goose-stepping toward vile fascism
October 28, 2025 at 4:56 PM
If boot stomping the civil rights of Albertans goes even more sideways, I wouldn't put it past the Premier, on her return to Alberta to suggest something to the effect that 'if I had been in Alberta, I would have intervened' This trip provides the Premier with the blanket of plausible deniability.
October 28, 2025 at 4:37 AM
It is weird...I just looked up "irony" the dictionary and it had a series of photos showing a provincial Premier boot-stomping charter rights, then flying off to a country that is an absolute monarchy that too does not respect civil rights. Whata coincidence
October 28, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Truth does not matter to neither the Premier nor the UCP government. To them, truth is an annoyance in their pursuit of destroying all that was good in Alberta: tolerance of others, public healthcare, public education, the environment and now democratic rights. Alberta is becoming a dystopian place
October 28, 2025 at 1:24 AM
Notwithstanding, including the clause and relying on time allotment, tomorrow has the potential to truly reveal the true anti-democratic nature of the UCP government
