I do think the whole point of the show is for Carol to redeem herself and get past the trauma that's shaped who she is. That's what happened with Walt and Jimmy in BB & BCS, and I don't see that changing here.

Listening to the official podcast, I got the impression there were limitations to what they could and couldn't shoot to get that shot, and went with that. Impressively, everything except Rhea & the rooftop are composited from multiple shots over multiple days--so at least THAT looked good!

It's interesting b/c when the joined say "We've been you," they're not empathic to the degree where they then go "And b/c of that, we'll now leave you alone". The virus's biological imperative overrides that supposed empathy. Intriguing...

This one relies on a substitution of a certain word in the clue, and in a very meta context. That seems to be the thing tripping most folks up (but I played by the rules, I did!)

I think folks just see her as annoying and don't really get that that's the point--she's that way on purpose, and *for* a purpose. A virus that turns everyone into smile zombies--who better to be their foil, and their mirror, than someone who presents as abrasive?

Just curious if you watched and enjoyed Tom Hanks in "Cast Away." B/c that's the pace and vibe the show's going for--a slow-burn character study about one person's personal journey--but here, it's draped in the trappings of a sci-fi thriller.

They'll have to be accidents or outcomes she wasn't planning to keep the gag running, I suppose! She didn't throw the grenade at Zosia, nor did she know she'd put her in cardiac arrest. Maybe ... she's now with Diabate in Vegas? Maybe he has guards protecting her?! I'm calling it now

Plus, it's been just over a week, and she's laser-focused on essentially fighting the whole world, so either she asked all those "Area 51/Jimmy Hoffa,etc." ?s and moved on, or she justifiably hasn't asked them b/c she's got a lot on her plate

I think folks (like me) have tons of questions I'd ask the collective that she hasn't asked (at least on camera! Bear that in mind) miss that she's not only grieving her partner who was killed by an alien "invasion," but that invading force stalks you and haunts you with your partner's memories

I do 100% agree the show portrays her as someone who IS privileged, and doesn't get that, but she no longer has that privilege, meaning she's going to need to change. It doesn't champion her privileged POV, and I suspect the show's really how about she eventually becomes a better, healed individual.

Recall: the first two times she caused the joined to glitch: the first time she didn't know it would happen, and the second time was an accident. At NO point has she shrugged at the pain she's caused.

It's not the tale of a gay closeted woman scarred by childhood trauma, whose partner was murdered, in a world where human culture's wiped away, harassed by the thieves of her partner's memories daily, manipulated into harming others any time she justifiably attempts to remain human? It's not that?
