I would argue that the only objective standard that matters when it comes to assessing art is how well the piece aligns with the artist’s intentions. Did the artist want the art to look this way? To evoke this feeling/this idea? To capture this vibe? If yes, nothing else matters.

I think Rian Johnson is an amazing director, but the Last Jedi was like watching an amazing athlete nearly defy physics leaping over other members of both teams, doing backflips, effortlessly and impressively sailing through the air and around all the other players to score a goal for the wrong team

The most frustrating thing about modern Bond for me is how it’s earned this mantle as “prestige” cinema when really Bond is gutter exploitation trash. Theyre two steps up from a schlocky Roger Corman movie. There is a reason the Hitman games (goofy as they are) get compared to Bond a lot.

My partner is a huge Community fan and yesterday they were literally telling me about how Britta starts the show seeming like the smart one but over the course of the show comes across as increasingly dumb… I think you may be on to something…

The problems with making interstellar travel feasible are well within our present material means to solve (if not now, then at least they’re within the realm of possibility) unlike Harry potter magic which requires *checks notes* fucking TELEKINESIS (and that’s just the first spell they learn)
