This is so deeply disappointing. I really despair. A dark day for the UK’s precious wildlife and habitats. We need to be urgently stepping up protections, not recklessly discarding them… 🦇 🌳

Badgers aren’t to blame for bovine TB — dairy farming is.
94% of cases spread cow-to-cow, not badger-to-cow.
In England in 2024 at least 17,150 badgers were culled under government-issued licenses.
End the cull. End dairy farming.

This is astonishing.

Although actually, it isn't if your values are focused on having the 'right' to shoot gamebirds in the face for a bit of fun rather than protect wild birds of high conservation value from a devastating disease. #BirdFlu #Ornithology

When excellent MPs stand up for what’s right and then get suspended by their party we should be very worried. Chris Hinchliff has been a staunch defender of nature and is far closer to the public view than the prime minster. Such arrogance 😡. Great quote here from Craig Bennett, agree 💯 .

I mean, come on. The Global Methane Pledge doesn’t say “hold global human-caused methane emissions constant so our methane emissions won’t contribute to any more warming.” It says “reduce methane emissions 30% by 2030” because methane is an extremely potent greenhouse gas.
This is incredibly unfair: high-income nations with large dairy sectors are looking to adopt a "no additional warming" target, avoiding the methane cuts needed to meet international targets and pledges.

We have written an open letter to the NZ PM and I spoke to the FT👇🧵
